adidas Relaunches Popular, High-Performance Metalbone Paddle

Major sporting apparel brand adidas has recently relaunched its high performance Metalbone paddle with a redesigned shape, a bolder design, and even more advanced features.

“The Metalbone family has arrived,” adidas wrote in an Instagram post announcing the rerelease of the popular line, which the company first unveiled in 2023. The adidas Metalbone paddles were a big hit initially but failed to sustain the initial momentum, prompting the international brand to discontinue production.

Now, two years later, adidas has brought back the Metalbone family as the sport of pickleball has continued to grow globally. The relaunched paddle boasts a fully overhauled design that keeps the originals strong points and improves on its weak areas. The goal of the company is to grow its own footprint in pickleball and establish itself as a prominent player in the sport just like JOOLA and Selkirk Sport.

The All-New Metalbone Paddles: Cutting Edge, Technologically Advanced

The new adidas Metalbone paddles are constructed using cutting-edge materials and boast game-evolving features that promise to elevate gameplay. This relaunched line of new generation paddles are, according to adidas, “engineered for precision, power, and players who show up to win.”

“Pros recognise the level of engineering and innovation that went into these paddles, and amateurs appreciate the combination of quality and accessibility,” said Brian Ogle, Chief Commercial Officer of All Racquet Sports, a subsidiary of adidas Pickleball.

Features of the All-New Metalbone

So far, adidas’ new Metalbone paddles have already received praise from pickleball players like Mari Humberg and Rafa Hewett. Metalbone design boasts adjustable weight systems and polymer or EVA cores and has the following features:

  • Edgeless Design. The paddle is protected by a technologically advanced perimeter protector. It safeguards the paddle from accidental bumps and scrapes without affecting its sweet spot.
  • High Durability. Perimeter carbon reinforcements run from the bottom of the handle all the way to the sides. In addition, Octagonal Structure technology increases torsional rigidity and durability, creating a solid and stable surface.
  • Feel-Good Factor. A polyhedral design between the handle and paddle surface provides greater rigidity and shot power. It is especially effective for players who favour a two-handed backhand.
  • More Spin on the Face. The cutting-edge carbon weave spin blade maximises long-lasting spin generation. This, in turn, enhances players’ ability to deceive opponents.

What’s more the adidas Metabone line has two core types—EVA or honeycomb. This allows players to choose between finesse and control or aggressive power.

With the relauchn of the Metalbone line, adidas is ushering in a new era in the company’s involvement in the world’s fastest-rising sport. The aim, ultimately, is to establish a bigger footprint in pickleball and redefine performance standards to help players play better.
