Anna Leigh Waters, Catherine Parenteau Split Up After Ultra-Successful Run

Another high-profile tandem has headed to split-ville.
Just a few months after the Johns Brothers—Ben and Collin—announced their split up, Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau have also parted ways. Parenteau made it official after the Veolia North Carolina Open when she posted on Instagram short but heartfelt thank-you message to Waters, who was her longtime partner.
“Anna Leigh, I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the time we’ve spent together on the court. From the laughter to the hard-fought matches, every moment has been unforgettable,” Parenteau wrote. “You’ve pushed me to grow as a player, and I’m so thankful for our partnership. Wishing you nothing but success as you continue to shine in your pickleball journey.”

In a way, Waters and Parenteau were in women’s doubles what the Johns Brothers were to men’s doubles—dominant, dynamic, undeniable. In fact, in their time as partners, they won quite a handful of tournaments. In the first three months of 2025, Waters and Parenteau won five of the seven women’s doubles events they played together, losing only to the pair of Callie Smith and Etta Tuionetoa in the quarterfinals of the CIBC Texas Open and to the duo of Jorja Johnson of Tyra Black in the finals of the Veolia North Carolina Open.
In 2024, Waters and Parenteau won 15 gold medals together and 3 silvers, with all three of those losses coming against the equally capable pair of Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher. In their time as partners, Waters and Parenteau did all these things:
- Won 31 titles—including 14 in 2024—and compiled a 31-4 record in finals.
- Went 10-3 in finals vs Bright/Rohrabacher and 21-1 in finals against everyone else.
- Went 11-3 all-time vs Bright/Rohrabacher (includes 2024 Desert Ridge semifinal match).
Moving forward, Waters will be partnering with Anna Bright—at least for the remainder of the 2025 season. They will play their first tournament together in 2025 at the Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships on 12–18 May 2025. The tournament is a Slam, which means it will convey the maximum amount of points.
While May will be Waters and Bright’s first team-up for 2025, they have been partners before and even won seven titles in 2023. But in 2024, Waters decided to play exclusively with Parenteau, up until their split just this week.
From the looks of things, though, Waters’s doubles career will be in good hands with Bright given their winning history together. The only question is whether they will continue their successful run moving forward.
