Asia Federation Pickleball Hosts Second PPR Level 1 Coach Certification in Singapore

The Asia Federation of Pickleball (AFP) is set to host another PPR Level 1 Coach Certification in Singapore for pickleball coaches at the beginner and improver levels. The one-day event will be held on 13 June 2025 in Singapore Expo Hall 7 at 9 Somapah Road, Singapore 487370.

There is a SGD $420 fee for those who’d like to join (check the QR code below). The fee is inclusive of all course materials, online assessment, and a PPR certificate upon successful completion and passing of the exam.

This certification training is a great opportunity for pickleball coaches to enhance their coaching skills, earn professional credentials, and contribute to the growth of pickleball in Southeast Asia. It will be headed by Gary Tan, AFP-appointed PPR Coach Developer.

Coaches looking to refine their techniques are most welcome to join, as are aspiring instructors as this certification will equip them with the knowledge and skills to develop players effectively.

What Is PPR Level 1 Certification?

PPR Level 1 Certification workshops are specifically designed to guide instructors working with adult pickleball players at the beginner and improver levels. Each certification workshop is delivered by highly trained clinicians responsible for creating an effective learning environment for all coaches. In order to become certified, coaches must demonstrate an acceptable level of competence in skills, teaching ability, and knowledge.

The AFP previously held a PPR Level 1 Certification in March, also at Singapore.

Who Can Join AFP’s PPR Level 1 Certification?

Coaches who wish to join the AFP’s PPR Level 1 Certification must be at least a 3.5 level player. You can find information about the pickleball levels on the USA Pickleball website for a self-rating. In the alternative, you need to play an AFP / AFP members’ country-sanctioned tournament to be assigned a rating.

What Are the Preparations Before the Course?

Before attending a PPR certification workshop, you must read through your study guide two or three times and must complete the online video pre-course. All study materials will be sent to accepted coaches via email before the course. In the event proper, your clinician will be teaching and reviewing material based on the assumption that you have mastered the contents of those items. In other words, come prepared—very prepared!

What to Bring for the Event Proper?

The event will last for five hours on a pickleball court, so you’re encouraged to bring the snacks, hydration, and sunscreen to keep you going. There will be small, brief breaks throughout the class, but no official meal breaks. This is why finger food and bite-sized treats would be best. It’s also recommended that you come having eaten already and fully hydrated. In addition, ddon’t forget your paddle, court shoes, and extra socks!

What Comes Next?

Once done with the training and after passing the certification assessments, each participant will be presented with a PPR certification. Even better, the contact details of all certified coaches will be listed on the AFP website at https://www.afpickleball.org/academy.

Registration is still ongoing, but only limited slots are available. So, register now!
