Asia Federation Pickleball to Host PPR Level 1 Coach Certification in Singapore [Registration Still Open]

Asia Federation Pickleball (AFP) is set to host a PPR Level 1 Coach Certification in Singapore for pickleball coaches at the beginner and improver levels. The one-day event will be held on 29 March 2025 at Dover Court International School in 301 Dover Road, Singapore. There is a SGD $420 fee for those who’d like to join (check the QR code below).
This certification training is a great opportunity for pickleball coaches to enhance their coaching skills, earn professional credentials, and contribute to the growth of pickleball in Southeast Asia. Coaches looking to refine their techniques are most welcome to join, as are aspiring instructors as this certification will equip them with the knowledge and skills to develop players effectively.
What Is PPR Level 1 Certification?
PPR Level 1 certification workshops are designed to guide instructors who are working with adult pickleball players at the beginner and improver levels towards certification. Each certification workshop is delivered by highly-trained clinicians responsible for creating an effective learning environment for all coaches.
Who Can Join AFP’s PPR Level 1 Certification?
Coaches who wish to join the AFP’s PPR Level 1 Certification must be at least a 3.5 level player. You can find information about the pickleball levels on the USA Pickleball website for a self-rating. In the alternative, you need to play an AFP / AFP members’ country-sanctioned tournament to be assigned a rating.
What Are the Preparations Before the Course?
Before attending a PPR certification workshop, you must read through your study guide two or three times and must complete the online video pre-course. All study materials will be sent to accepted coaches via email before the course. In the event proper, your clinician will be teaching and reviewing material based on the assumption that you have mastered the contents of those items. In other words, come prepared—very prepared!
This is why it is best to register early. In this way, you will have more preparation time.
How Will Assessment Be Done in the Certification Testing?
You will be assessed based on your knowledge and abilities in three main categories:
- Written Knowledge
- Playing & Demonstrating Skills
- Teaching Abilities
Your certification rating will be the lowest rating you receive across those three categories. For example, if you achieve PRO in written, PRO in skills, and COACH in teaching, your overall rating will be COACH.
The written assessment will be done after the course. Ample time will be allocated for you to complete the online test at your own time.
What to Bring for the Event Proper?
The event will last for five hours on a pickleball court, so you’re encouraged to bring the snacks, hydration, and sunscreen to keep you going. There will be small, brief breaks throughout the class, but no official meal breaks. This is why finger food and bite-sized treats would be best. It’s also recommended that you come having eaten already and fully hydrated. In addition, ddon’t forget your paddle, court shoes, and extra socks!
What Comes Next?
Once done with the training and after passing the certification assessments, each participant will be presented with a PPR certification. Even better, the contact details of all certified coaches will be listed on the AFP website at https://www.afpickleball.org/academy.
Registration is still ongoing, but only limited slots are available. So, register now!
