Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025 Ushers in New Era for Collegiate Pickleball

The Asia Federation of Pickleball (AFP) successfully staged the inaugural Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025 in Da Nang, Vietnam in a historic milestone for collegiate and alumni pickleball across Asia. For over four exciting days, players from eight countries came together, showcasing a vibrant blend of youth, experience, and cross-border camaraderie.

The tournament kicked off with a lively opening ceremony celebrating unity, sportsmanship, and cultural pride. Teams of university students, alumni, and staff participated from Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Brunei, India, and Vietnam.

University Team Challenge: The Golden Ticket Winners

The highlight of the championship was the fiercely contested University Team Challenge, where national pride met the chance for international glory.

  • India emerged as the Team Champions, demonstrating outstanding skill and teamwork.
  • Chinese Taipei secured the Runners-Up position with a strong performance.

Both teams earned the prestigious Golden Ticket to represent Asia at the upcoming Collegiate World Championships in Dallas, USA, taking place from 31 October to 2 November 2025. This marks an exciting opportunity for these student-athletes to compete at the highest level, gaining pro-level experience and international exposure.

Beyond the competition, the championship was filled with fun moments, laughter, and the joy of meeting new friends from across Asia. Many players expressed excitement about staying connected and planning joint training sessions to continue improving their skills together. This spirit of camaraderie and collaboration promises a bright future for pickleball in the region.

Referee Workshop and What Lies Ahead

Alongside staging the Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025, AFP also successfully conducted a Referee & Game Marshall Workshop during the tournament. The AFP welcomed 52 passionate participants who are now on the path to becoming certified AFP Referees.
