Global Pickleball Federation, Pickleball World Cup Partner for International Competition

The Global Pickleball Federation (GPF) has announced it is officially joining forces with the Pickleball World Cup in a multi-year partnership. The GPF is the world governing body for pickleball, while the Pickleball World Cup is the sport’s premier international event.

This Pickleball World Cup will be held at The FORT, a new world-class pickleball venue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from 27 October to 2 November 2025. Last year’s Pickleball World Cup was held in Lima, Peru, with teams competing from 33 countries. This year, entries have grown exponentially to over 3,000 participants from more than 60 countries across the world.

The Pickleball World Cup’s alignment with GPF represents a visionary step forward in the development of pickleball’s global competition, increasing awareness while supporting a global framework for fair and consistent competition in every corner of the world. Teams will compete for national pride, while celebrating a mix of cultures, heritage, and a universal love for the sport of pickleball.

“Under this groundbreaking GPF and Pickleball World Cup alignment, international players of all ages, gender, and ability will unite in person, to experience and celebrate our great sport of pickleball,” said Hercilio Cabieses, Director of the Pickleball World Cup.

A Shared Vision for Global Growth and Unity

The first Pickleball World Cup was hosted in Lima in 2023 by Hercilio and Miranda Cabieses, a young and dynamic sibling duo that has worked tirelessly to grow pickleball in their native country of Peru since 2021.

“Pickleball Peru is a proud member of the GPF,” said Hercilio Cabieses, Founder of the Cabieses Foundation. “As founder of Peru’s governing body for pickleball, and the Cabieses Foundation, and Director of the Pickleball World Cup, we share common goals with the GPF, to promote opportunities for all categories of players, and encourage the growth of pickleball globally.”

A Step Closer to Olympic Recognition

This alignment with the Pickleball World Cup supports GPF’s long-term mission to instil best practices and standards, ultimately achieving International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognition for pickleball, and future inclusion in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. In June 2025, a GPF delegation officially entered its application for IOC recognition in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. To bring that dynamic to life, the international pickleball community will converge at The FORT for the Pickleball World Cup, the most exciting and entertaining pickleball competition I’ve ever experienced in person,” added Chandler Carney, a GPF Board Member, who competed in the 2024 tournament in Peru.

“The GPF is excited to align with the Pickleball World Cup, as we work to elevate and unify pickleball worldwide,” added GPF Board Member Justin Maloof. “Watching a record number of international teams gather in the U.S. from every continent to compete, especially during the 60th Anniversary year of pickleball, represents a historic moment for our sport.”
