GPF Names DUPR as Official Rating System in ‘Pivotal Moment’ in Pickleball’s Global Development

In a historic move for international pickleball, the Global Pickleball Federation (GPF), world governing body for pickleball, has officially named DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) its official rating system.
This partnership marks a pivotal moment in the history of pickleball’s global development, uniting GPF’s four continental federations, member nations and GPF owned and operated events for the first time, under one trusted and universally adopted rating system.
The GPF is the world governing body for pickleball, serving as a not-for-profit organisation focused on the integrity and development of pickleball globally, from grassroots to recreational and high-performance levels. GPF’s unifying function, structure, and board are aligned with pickleball’s established continental federations and a valued volunteer network engaged in growing the sport worldwide. The GPF’s ethical framework and by-laws will ultimately lead the sport of pickleball to International Olympic Committee recognition and inclusion in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
The DUPR, on the other hand, is the premier global pickleball rating system and technology platform, trusted by the world’s leading clubs, tournaments, leagues, and players. DUPR’s dynamic rating system unifies pickleball across age, gender, and location by analyzing match results to accurately evaluate all players across a 2.000–8.000 scale. DUPR is the official pickleball rating of leagues, tournaments and clubs around the world, including United Pickleball Association (UPA), PPA, Major League Pickleball (MLP), Pickleball.com, Life Time, The Picklr, National Team Pickleball League, and National Pickleball League. It also owns and operates Minor
League Pickleball and Collegiate Pickleball, two of the biggest amateur leagues in the sport.
A Shared Vision for Global Pickleball Growth
The GPF serves as the international federation for the Continental Federation of Africa (CAP), Pickleball Federation of the Americas (PFA), Oceania Pickleball Federation (OPF), Asia Pickleball Association (APA) as well as twelve European member countries and growing. DUPR is the preferred rating for the GPF, solidifying a truly global framework for fair and consistent competition.
The GPF’s non-profit board of directors is led by active stewards of our sport, deeply invested in the future. The founders and leaders of pickleball in Australia, Canada, Chile, Ghana, India, Ireland, Mexico, The Philippines, Poland and the United States serve as legacy members on the GPF board.
With the GPF tapping the DUPR, players, coaches, and organisers will benefit from:
- One Standardised Rating: DUPR’s trusted 2.000–8.000 scale brings clarity and consistency to all levels of play, from amateur matches to elite competition.
- Smarter Player Development: Whether you’re a recreational player or a national team prospect, DUPR provides real-time, match-based ratings that reflect actual performance; not just wins and losses.
- Simplified Event Organisation: Federations and clubs worldwide can now use DUPR to accurately seed brackets, set divisions, and streamline tournament
“We’re thrilled to partner with DUPR as we work to elevate and unify pickleball worldwide,” said GPF President Javier Regalado. “Having a single, trusted rating system in place across continents is a positive step toward unifying pickleball, eliminating some of the confusion and fragmentation that inhibits growth.”
A Step Closer to Olympic Recognition
This alignment also supports GPF’s long-term mission to instill best practices and standards, ultimately achieving IOC recognition for pickleball and future inclusion in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. Last month, a GPF delegation officially entered its application for IOC recognition in Lausanne, Switzerland.
“Under GPF and DUPR’s historic alignment, international players of all ages, gender and location are united under one technology platform to grow the great sport of pickleball.” added DUPR CEO Tito Machado.
