India’s All Things Pickleball Launches First-of-Its-Kind Women’s Premier Pickleball League

All Things Pickleball (ATP) in India has officially launched the Women’s Premier Pickleball League (WPPL)—and as the name suggests, this pickleball league will be exclusively for women. An initiative by the ATP, the WPPL will be India’s first-of-its-kind professional pickleball league dedicated to women.

The WPPL is specifically designed to empower women pickleball players by providing them with a platform to compete professionally and the chance to move the needle on women’s sports and bring the excitement of competitive pickleball to a wider audience—particularly in pickleball-crazy India.

“WPPL is built in the concept of Women First, India’s First bandwidth. We want people to feel pride, excitement, and inspiration. We hope WPPL becomes capitalism to change the stream of Indian sports,” said Senthil Ram, Founder of the WPPL during the league’s formal launch. “Encouraging more women players to take up pickleball, more brands to support Women’s league, and more people to believe in professional women sports. It is not a side note of a larger league. It is a main event.”

This first-of-its-kind, one-of-a-kind league will feature 10 franchise-owned teams of five women players each. These 10 teams will then be competing in a high-energy, professionally managed format that will showcase the best of what the women’s game has to offer.

The first season of the WPPL will take place in November 2025, and it promises to bring top-tier competition to the women’s division. It will also feature celebrity involvement, with pickleball stars and celebrities expected to be part of the tournament in some capacity. It will also be run with a commitment to promoting women in sports at both grassroots and professional levels.
