Jack Wong Hong-kit Aims for Treble in Home Debut at Hong Kong Open 2025

A Triple Crown in the PPA Tour Asia? A Triple Crown in your home town?
Sounds ambitious enough, but that’s exactly the lofty goal of Hong Kong’s top pickleball player, Jack Wong Hong-kit.
Formerly a tennis player, Hong-kit made it known that he would be chasing a Triple Crown—men’s singles and doubles, and the mixed doubles—when he makes his home debut in the Hong Kong Open 2025.
“I am aiming for a gold medal in all three events,” Hong-kit said. “When I first heard the tournament was coming to Hong Kong, I was actually quite excited. It’s the first time a bigger tournament is being played here, but I’m not thinking about whether it will motivate me more or give me extra pressure—it’s all about playing my best game in a change of environment, wherever we play.”
Hong-kit has chosen to pair up with South Korea’s Kim Eunggwon in the men’s doubles and has picked younger sister and tennis player Cody Wong Hong-yi—currently ranked no. 367 in the world—as his mixed-doubles partner.
“I expect to play in all PPA Tour Asia events this year,” Hong-kit added. “It’s going to bring some of the best players, including from the United States, to the region so it is going to be competitive.
It will be a tough field, for sure, just as it was when the inaugural tournament—the Panas Malaysia Cup 2025—kicked off in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month. But the 26-year-old is hopeful that he’ll find some success in his home turf.
“I hope I can break through. I don’t want the top players to think they can easily win when facing Asian players like me—it’s about fighting for our names.”
The Hong Kong Open 2025 will be played at Kai Tak Arena from 21 to 24 August 2025 and is one of three Open stops, which is the lowest tier on the tour (the Grand Slam being the highest).
