MB Vietnam Cup 2025: Puc Huynh, Hien Truong Set Up All-Vietnam Final, Armaan Bhatia/Zane Navratil, Liz Truluck Pull Off Shockers

Day 3 of the MB Vietnam Cup 2025 was marked by upsets and command performances from Vietnam’s top male pickleball pros. Here is our recap of the semis action:

Puc Huynh, Hien Truong Dispute Men’s Singles Crown

Puc Huynh and Hien Truong are two of Vietnam’s best male players, and they proved as much on Friday, pulling out semis victories to set up an all-Vietnam Final in Men’s Singles.

Huynh bested Thomas Yu, 2-0 (11-7, 11-5) and ended the latter’s dream run in the MB Vietnam Cup 2025 Men’s Singles. Truong, on the other hand, delivered a hard-fought comeback win, buckling a one-game deficit to outlast compatriot Hoang Nam Ly, 2-1 (5-11, 11-9, 11-6).

Liz Truluck Stuns Kaitlyn Christian, Goes for Gold vs. Sahra Dennehy

Over at the distaff side, Liz Truluck pulled off a stunning 2-1 (11-5, 11-8, 11-9) victory over highly touted compatriot Kaitlyn Christian to advance to the gold medal match. Truluck, ranked no. 13 in Women’s Singles in the PPA Tour, stormed to an early lead and pushed Christian, ranked no. 3, on her heels the whole match to complete the upset.

Truluck will dispute the Women’s Singles crown against Australia’s Sahra Dennehy, who pulled off her own stunner in the other semis bracket by besting compatriot Roos Van Reek, 2-1 (11-3, 6-11, 11-4). Dennehy and Van Reek are to date two of Australia’s finest pros.

Armaan Bhatia/Zane Navratil Overcome Ben Johns/Deker Bar, to Meet Tyson McGuffin/Eric Oncins

Fans witnessed another stunner in Men’s Doubles, where the pair of Armaan Bhatia and Zane Navratil stymied the legendary pairing of Ben Johns and Deker Bar, 2-1 (11-4, 8-11, 13-11) in an absolute thrill ride of a match.

Bhatia and Navratil’s reward will be a gold medal Final opposite the dynamic duo of Eric Oncins and Tyson McGuffin, who hacked out an impressive 2-0 (11-3, 11-8) sweep of India’s Vanshik Kapadia and Harsh Mehta.

Christian/Chao Yi Wang Outlast Nicola Schoeman/Danni-Elle Townsend to Book Spot in Finals of Women’s Doubles

Over at Women’s Doubles, the pair of Kaitlyn Christian and Chao Yi Wang outlasted the Australian duo of Nicola Schoeman and Danni-Elle Townsend, 2-1 (10-12, 11-8, 11-6) to make it to the Final. Christian/Wang will be battling for gold opposite the pair of Ting Chieh Wei and Alix Truong, who blanked Pei-chuan Kuo and Liz Truluck, 2-0 (12-10, 11-2).

Truong/Truong Deliver One Last Shocker in Day 3

Finally, Day 3 also witnessed the pair of Alix Truong and Jonathan Truong pull the rug from under the duo of Oncins and Van Reek, 2-1 (11-1, 7-11, 11-2), by starting out strong and finishing off even stronger. The Truongs will next face Wang/McGuffin, who dispatched Townsend/Navratil via 2-0 (11-9, 11-4) sweep.

The gold medal matches are scheduled to be played later this Championship Saturday.
