MB Vietnam Cup 2025’s Championship Saturday Sets Guinness World Record

Pickleball is inevitable. That much the sport proved on Championship Saturday of the PPA Tour Asia‘s MB Vietnam Cup 2025, where 7,906 fans filled the Tien Son Sports Arena in Da Nang to witness top-tier pickleball action.
This number—7,906—is significant for the growing sport of pickleball as it set a record for fan attendance at a pickleball event. And this wasn’t just any record. It was a Guinness World Record for fan attendance as confirmed by Guinness representatives. The confirmation was made after the final match of Championship Saturday, which, by the way, delivered thrills, drama, exciting action, and top-level play. So, it was only fitting that a record-sized crowd witnessed all that pickleball action.
Even PPA Tour Founder Connor Pardoe was amazed at the record turnout, taking to X to express his thoughts on the sheer number of fans that watched the gold medal matches of the MB Vietnam Cup 2025.
“Pretty surreal to see the PPA Tour like this,” Pardoe wrote on X. “Lots to celebrate… But even more hard work ahead! Excited to keep growing this thing!”
The fans didn’t go home disappointed either, as they got the chance to witness an all-Vietnam Final in Men’s Singles as Huc Puynh and Hien Truong battled it out for gold. Puynh ultimately prevailed to add the MB Vietnam Cup 2025 crown to the MB Vietnam Open 2025 title he won several weeks ago.
Vietnam’s passionate fans also saw the Truong siblings, Alix and Jonathan, strike gold with a sweep of Chao Yi Wang and Tyson McGuffin in the Mixed Doubles Final. The Truongs are American but have Vietnamese heritage, and they had the crowd behind them all match long.
The record-setting crowd at the MB Vietnam Cup 2025 comes barely a month after the MLP announced record-breaking numbers for their recently concluded season. Both are a testament to pickleball’s unstoppable growth—one that is taking place not only in the US, the birthplace of pickleball, but also in Asia, the sport’s next epicentre.
