One Final Act: Johns Bros to Play Together One Final Time at The Masters

Ben Johns and Collin Johns, the most dominant doubles partnership in pickleball, will have one final act later this January. The Johns brothers, who announced their amicable split in December, are slated to play at The Masters this weekend in Palm Springs, California. It is the first PPA Tour event of 2025 and possibly the last time Ben and Collin will play together as a pair.

The Johns brothers went their separate ways mid-December, with Ben breaking the news via a statement.

“We’ve achieved so much as a team together, and I’m really proud of what we’ve accomplished,” Ben told Pickleball.com. “Change-ups in life and in sports can be a refreshing thing. We feel like this decision will help us find new purpose, create variety, and reengage us in the sport we love so much. This is not necessarily the end of our partnership for good, just a healthy adjustment for the time being. We’ll always be brothers first and part of each other’s pickleball legacy. We’re excited to see what 2025 holds for both of us.”

Ben and Collin have stated they will be exploring new partnerships moving forward, with the former supposedly looking at Gabe Tardio as a potential partner and the latter eyeing either Jay Devilliers or Andrei Daescu. However, it appears the brothers have not found their new partners yet and have been listed as a pair in 2025’s first Slam.

Ben and Collin Johns Can Author a Golden Finish to Their Brothers Act

Fittingly, they can add at The Masters one final piece of hardware to their treasure chest of medals and trophies. The Johns Brothers, of course, are the most successful pickleball player of all time, winning 33 titles and 43 medals in the PPA Tour. They began showing out as a pair in 2021, when they won 4 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals in 7 tournaments. They ascended to in 2022, winning 10 gold and 4 silver medals in 15 tournaments. They entered best of the best territory in in 2023, when they won 12 gold medals and a silver in 16 tournaments.

However, 2024 proved to be a lean year for the Johns brothers—at least by their lofty standards—as they won only 7 gold and 2 silver medals in 20 tournaments. This has led to some noticeable frustration for Ben and Collin, ultimately leading to their breakup.

But with one final act this weekend, Ben and Collin Johns will have a chance to punctuate their doubles career with one last golden moment.
