Philippines’ Camp John Hay in Baguio Opens Pickleball and Hoops Facility

Camp John Hay, a former US military base in Baguio City in the Philippines, has gotten into the pickleball craze as well. This happened after Landco Lifestyle Venture (LLV) recently opened the John Hay Sports Pavilion, a brand-new facility that houses pickleball and 3×3 basketball courts. The facility is open to Baguio residents and tourists alike.
John Hay Sports Pavilion was a former warehouse until Dreamcourtph, in collaboration with Duckworld PH, turned it into a sprawling facility with four pickleball courts and three FIBA-standard 3×3 courts.
“We’re simply giving back John Hay to the Baguio community,” said LLV head Pato Gregorio, who has taken point in LLV’s tourism push in the Camp John Hay complex since it was returned officially back to the Philippine government. “I just realized, (pickleball) is the biggest sports craze in the country today. So, it’s nice to have pickleball courts here that are accessible to both residents and tourists.
Two courts are available for reservation from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., while all four are available for reservation from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The rate is ₱600/hour for a maximum of 10 players. There are also three batches of open play every day for ₱250/head:
- 8:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. (max 16 players)
- 5:00 p.m. –8:00 p.m. (max 32 players)
- 8:00 p.m. –11:00 p.m. (max 32 players)
The pickleball courts at the John Hay Sports Pavilion are a nice addition to the growing list of pickleball facilities in Baguio, known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines. They also underscore the growing popularity of the sport in the Philippines, where pickleball is taking off not only in Metro Manila but also in the different provinces.
