PPA Tour Asia Announces Vietnam Open for September in Homecoming for Vietnamese Champ Trinh Giang

The PPA Tour Asia has announced it will be coming to Vietnam with the Vietnam Open, which will mark the four stop of the tour that began in Malaysia and will continue in Hong Kong and Japan this August.

The Vietnam Open will also mark a homecoming for one of the tour’s inaugural champions, Trinh Giang, who dazzled the Malaysian crowd with his cat-and-mouse style and fleet footwork en route to winning gold in the men’s singles in a hard-fought and thrilling showdown against Hong Kong’s Wong Hong-kit. Following his breakthrough performance in Malaysia, all eyes will turn to Vietnam in two months as PPA Tour Asia continues its expansion across the region.

In about a month and change, Trinh’s fans can get a taste of topnotch pickleball action up close, as the Vietnam Open is set to run from 4 to 7 September 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam’s emergence as a pickleball hotbed ensures plenty of buzz for the event. The country recorded an astonishing 152% growth in 2024 alone, with over 16 million frequent players now taking to the courts. As the fastest-growing territory for the sport in Asia, Vietnam is definitely ready for its professional pickleball moment.

The Vietnam Open will be the final stop in a busy three-tournament swing for PPA Tour Asia. The swing will kick off with the Hong Kong Open from 21 to 24 August 2025, followed immediately by the Sansan Fukuoka Open in Japan from 26 to 31 August 2025, before heading across to Vietnam.

The swing will be boosted by the momentum from the successful inaugural PPA Tour Asia event in Malaysia, where Trinh’s triumph was joined by standout performances from across the region. India’s Vanshik Kapadia came within one win of a Triple Crown, claiming the Men’s Doubles title with countryman Harsh Mehta and partnering with Australia’s Nicola Schoeman for Mixed Doubles gold. UPA Asia Trailblazers Yufei Long and Jamie Wei, fresh from their Orange County Cup quarterfinal run, dominated the women’s events – Long taking Singles after saving match points while Wei captured Doubles gold with USA’s Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall.

PPA Tour Asia features a three-tier tournament structure—Slam, Cup and Open events—with points earned counting towards the PPA Tour Asia Rankings as players chase the prestigious no.1 crown.
