Seahorse Pickleball Club, Lanang Pickleball Club Hold Friendlies to Strengthen Sibu’s Pickleball Community

We picklers always speak highly about the pickleball community. And we should. It’s one of the many reasons the sport is growing so meteorically. Pickleball is the rare sport that builds friendships, fosters camaraderie, and encourages socialization.
And, just recently, the Northern Seahorse Pickleball Club (NSPC) and the Lanang Pickleball Club (LPC) held a friendly—but exciting—pickleball event at the MyCentre Sports Complex on Jalan Harmoni.
NSPC and LPC, two of Sibu’s most prominent pickleball clubs faced off in the friendlies with the aim of sharing their passion for pickleball while also encouraging sportsmanship and fostering a sense of community. The friendlies held were doubles and singles matches regardless of skill level.
“The aim was not only to promote pickleball as a sport but to also build lasting friendships and a supportive community among players,” said Raymond Guan Zhen Wee, President of NSPC. “This match was a great example of how sports can bring people together, and we intend to organise more events like this in the future,”
LPC President Daniel Iing Shii Ngie added: “It was wonderful to see so many passionate players come together. This event helped our members to improve on their skills while having fun. We look forward to more opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts.”
The event also featured an informal coaching session spearheaded by experienced players from the two clubs. The coaching session were for pickleball beginners and intermediate players who wanted to refine their techniques.
No official winners were declared at the conclusion of the event, but it did accomplish its true aim of sharing memorable experiences, building friendships, and inspiring sportsmanship among picklers.
With the success of the friendlies, the NSPC and LPC are already planning future collaborations. The goal of the two prominent clubs is to continue spreading the joy of pickleball in Sibu and in the region as well.
