Zimmer Biomet Masters Concludes with a Bang: Here Are Your Winners

The Zimmer Biomet Masters presented by Invited, which began on January 6th concluded with a bang over the weekend with some familiar names claiming victory at Rancho Mirage in California.

Here are the full results:

Mixed Doubles Final

(1) Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns Def. Catherine Parenteau And Federico Staksrud, 10-12, 11-5, 11-3, 11-3.

  • Waters and Johns have won 14 tournaments in a row while playing together.
  • Waters and Johns were down 4-1-1 in Game Two, then won 32 of 39 points.
  • Waters and Johns were better at winning rally-ending speed-up hands battles they initiated, 65% to 42%.
  • Waters and Johns had more Clean Winners (20-12) and fewer volleys into the net (19-10).

Men’s Doubles Final

(1) Ben Johns and Collin Johns Def. (2) Hayden Patriquin And Federico Staksrud, 11-5, 12-10, 11-3.

  • Johns and Johns are 34-7 together in finals.
  • Staksrud has won a medal in 26 consecutive tournaments, a PPA record.
  • Johns and Johns were better at winning rally-ending speed-up hands battles they initiated, 71% to 56%.
  • The Johns brothers won 11 of the 14 rallies that were 30 shots or more.
  • Longest rally: 52 shots.

Women’s Doubles Final

(1) Catherine Parenteau and Anna Leigh Waters Def. Anna Bright And Rachel Rohrbacher, 11-4, 11-6, 5-11, 12-10.

  • Waters and Parenteau are now 8-3 overall against Bright and Rohrabacher.
  • Parenteau and Waters were better at winning rally-ending speed-up hands battles they initiated, 57% to 48%.
  • Parenteau and Waters had more Clean Winners (14-7) and fewer Serve/Return/Thirds errors (10-3).
  • Bright and Rohrabacher led Game Four 5-0-2 and 10-5-2.

Men’s Singles Final

(1) Federico Staksrud Def. (7) Jaume Martinez Vich, 11-7, 11-2.

  • Staksrud has won a medal in 26 consecutive tournaments, a PPA record.
  • Staksrud’s 14 career men’s singles titles are second only to Ben Johns.
  • Staksrud had more Clean Winners (15-9) and fewer Baseline Drive Errors (9-1).
  • Martinez Vich led Game One, 6-1, then was outscored 21-3.
  • Longest rally: 15 shots.

Women’s Singles Final

(1) Anna Leigh Waters Def. (5) Kaitlyn Christian, 11-0, 11-6.

  • Waters has now beaten ten different players in PPA finals.
  • Christian’s win at Daytona Beach in December 2024 was her first. As a result, every woman in the Preseason Top Ten now has at least one title.
  • Waters had more Clean Winners (12-8) and fewer Serve & Return Errors (4-0).
  • Longest rally: 11 shots.
