BDO Insure in PH Offers Pickleball Insurance as Sport Continues Meteoric Rise

Pickleball has been steadily carving out its place in the sporting landscape, and here’s the latest proof—it’s now insurable in the Philippines. BDO Insure, from banking giant BDO, has launched a racket sports insurance plan, and yes, that includes your pickleball paddle.
For as little as ₱1,199 a year, players can secure coverage that goes beyond the usual health and accident protection. The plan offers up to ₱100,000 in medical reimbursement for injuries sustained on court, including eye injuries, while also covering paddles and rackets worth up to ₱60,000 against damage caused by fire or natural disasters.
Pickleball at the Centre
The timing couldn’t be more telling. Pickleball has exploded across the Philippines, with courts springing up in Metro Manila and beyond, and players investing in equipment, lessons, and competitive play. Insurance, once reserved for more established sports, is now catching up with pickleball’s rapid rise. It’s another marker of how the game has moved from niche pastime to mainstream pursuit.
BDO Insure is targeting both casual and regular players, with eligibility spanning ages 7 to 65 and renewable until 70. Enrolment is straightforward—no medical examination required, just an online sign-up through BDO’s website.
Tennis as a Side Note
Tennis, of course, is also included in the coverage, which is part of a more wide-ranging Racquet Sports Insurance product. But given pickleball’s undeniable popularity in the Phiippines, that bit feels almost like an afterthought here. The real story is pickleball’s ascent, and the fact that insurers now see value in protecting paddles alongside rackets is a clear sign of where the momentum lies.
In other words, this isn’t just about financial protection—it’s about recognition. When insurers start tailoring products to pickleball players, it signals that the sport has crossed into the mainstream. From casual enthusiasts to competitive athletes, pickleball is no longer a fringe activity. It’s a sport with staying power, and now, with insurance to match.
