SM City East Ortigas in PH Welcomes Pickleball With Six New Courts

Pickleball has been steadily weaving itself into the fabric of Filipino leisure, and SM is making sure the sport has a home in more communities. With the opening of six brand-new courts at SM City East Ortigas, SM Pickleball now boasts 108 courts across 33 malls nationwide—cementing its place as the country’s largest destination for the sport.

The launch on 25 September 2026 was more than just a ribbon-cutting. It was a lively showcase of pickleball’s growing appeal, with celebrities and enthusiasts turning up to play. Among those spotted on court were Anna Clarice Patrimonio, Asia’s top-ranked women’s singles pickleball player, alongside familiar names from entertainment such as Cherry Pie Picache, Nikki Valdez, Diana Zubiri, Eric “Eruption” Tai, and Sophie Albert.

A Space for Everyone

The new facility is designed with inclusivity in mind. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or someone picking up a paddle for the first time, the courts provide a welcoming environment to play, connect, and recharge. Families, friends, and colleagues can gather for casual matches, while a dedicated private court offers space for those who prefer exclusive games.

Joseph Francis Silva, Senior Assistant Vice President of SM Sports & Leisure Centers, summed up the vision neatly: “Expanding SM Pickleball to East Ortigas is all about making the sport accessible and bringing it closer to home. Beyond building courts, we’re creating a welcoming space across Metro Manila where players of all skill levels can come together, build lasting friendships, and help grow the pickleball community.”

More Than Just a Sport

Pickleball’s rise in the Philippines is not only about competition. It’s about lifestyle. Through SM Sports & Leisure, the game is being positioned as a catalyst for active living, everyday wellness, and community engagement. With more courts opening, the sport is becoming a natural part of daily routines—whether for fitness, socialising, or simply unwinding after work.

The expansion at East Ortigas is another step in SM’s broader commitment to making health and recreation accessible nationwide. And with pickleball’s mix of fun, inclusivity, and energy, it’s easy to see why more Filipinos are picking up a paddle.
