The Community Care Enrichment Programme (CCEP) hosted 49 children in a lively Pickleball Charity Fun Day at Setapak Pickleball in Kuala Lumpur, pulling off what many had considered an ambitious undertaking in under a month.
CCEP Foundation chief executive officer Yvonne Yee credited the success to four lead organisers and a team of 40 volunteers. “With a spirit of service, four lead organisers and a team of 40 volunteers pulled off what many had considered an ambitious undertaking. Throughout the preparation process, we coordinated and integrated resources from various sectors,” she said in a media release.
Children from All Walks of Life
Guests came from orphanages and special needs organisations, including Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Istimewa Insan, Persatuan Kebajikan Sayap Kasih Malaysia, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary, and Pertubuhan Anak Yatim dan Asnaf from the Klang Valley.
“Children from different races and backgrounds came together in an atmosphere filled with care, joy, and warmth, creating unforgettable memories,” Yee added.
The day was designed around inclusion rather than competition, with every child receiving a medal.
Performances and Activities
Volunteers accompanied the children through a line-up of performances, including an interactive face-changing act, a lively magic show, and a guzheng recital by Ma Jin Min, a child with autism. By listening to the music, he was able to improvise and follow the melody on the guzheng, a traditional Chinese plucked zither.
The children also took part in pickleball activities and fun exercises aimed at improving coordination and balance. Sponsors joined in, playing alongside the participants and helping to create a warm, friendly, and inclusive atmosphere throughout the event.
