According to Sibu Rural District Council chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai, the goal is to strengthen community ties and encourage participation by making the hall a central gathering point.
Pickleball Arrives in Sibu Jaya
Among the activities now available is pickleball, a sport that has been steadily gaining traction across Malaysia. The hall’s inclusion of pickleball courts signals recognition of the sport’s growing popularity and its appeal to a wide demographic.
Rental Rates for Pickleball
- Weekdays (Mon–Fri):
- 8 a.m.–6 p.m.: RM10 per hour
- 6 p.m.–10 p.m.: RM20 per hour
- Weekends & Public Holidays:
- 8 a.m.–6 p.m.: RM15 per hour
- 6 p.m.–10 p.m.: RM25 per hour
- Competitions: RM100 deposit required
For larger events, official programmes or functions are priced at RM450, with an additional RM300 deposit.
Rules and Responsibilities
To keep the facility in good condition, users are expected to:
- Maintain cleanliness during and after use.
- Return borrowed equipment within one day.
- Compensate for any damage or lost items.
- Provide at least three days’ notice before organising pickleball activities.
Booking forms are available at the Sibu Jaya Public Library, or applications can be submitted directly to the Secretary of the Sibu Rural District Council.
