Sofia Sewing has jumped ship from the APP Tour to the PPA Tour.
The Miami-based Sewing skyrocketed to No. 1 in the APP Tour Women’s Singles division and is widely viewed as the best women’s player outside the PPA Tour. She joined the APP Tour full-time only in 2025, but quickly became one of its top players, earning her first APP singles title at the Vlasic Classic in Daytona Beach early in 2025 and winning more as the year progressed.
Sofia Sewing, however, will not be playing on the PPA Tour this year. Instead, she will be seeing action in Major League Pickleball (MLP presented by DoorDash), where she will likely command significant interest from every team. The plan, according to multiple sources, is for Sewing to transition to a full schedule beginning in 2027, when she will play both on the PPA Tour and in the MLP.
“She’s only going to be playing MLP this year, and it won’t be until 2027 when we’ll see her play a PPA event,” said PPA Tour pro and pickleball influencer Zane Navratil, who foresees Sewing making it into the top five in the women’s game fairly quickly.
“When she does [play in the PPA], she’s quickly going to become a top five player on the singles court,” he added. “She’s an incredible mover and has great groundstrokes, so can she be the one to challenge Anna Leigh Waters?”
By signing with the UPA, Sofia Sewing joins Chris Haworth, Hunter Johnson, and Parris Todd as former APP Tour stalwarts to take their talents to the PPA Tour. All four reached as high as No. 1 on the APP Tour before jumping ship.
