SportSG Files Request to Retrofit Little India Bus Terminal into Pickleball Facility by 30 November 2025
Sport Singapore (SportSG) has filed the necessary paperwork—a request for quotation—to begin retrofitting Singapore’s Little India Bus Terminal into a pickleball facility.
The request for quotation, titled “Addition and Alteration (A&A) Works to Convert Sections of Little India Bus Terminal (LIBT) for Recreational Pickleball Activities”, was published on GeBIZ on 10 October 2025, with reference no. SSC000ETQ25000035. This request calls for the additions and alterations to be delivered by 30 November 2025.
This means that Singapore’s growing pickleball community, which has recently been at the centre of controversy due to noise complaints in residential areas, will soon have a new facility to play pickleball in without others complaining. The soon-to-rise facility is also highly accessible, as Little India Bus Terminal is right next to Little India MRT station. And the best part is that it’s coming very soon!
Located along Tekka Lane, Little India Bus Terminal comprises two sheltered structures that are used only on Sundays. The terminal serves as a pick-up point for private buses that ferry migrant workers back to their dormitories from Little India, but these pick-ups take place only on Sundays. Hence, the two structures are mostly unused from Monday to Saturday.
The decision to retrofit Little India Bus Terminal is part of SportSG’s broader plans to expand Singapore’s pickleball infrastructure—and repurposing existing facilities like the Little India Bus Terminal for pickleball use is an optimal way to do so. Moreover, the retrofitting would maximise the terminal’s usefulness outside of Sundays while also avoiding the need to build new courts from scratch, which would be much costlier and require more labour and time.
This planned expansion is timely, too, as Singapore’s growing pickleball community is in need of more pickleball courts where they can play freely and without worrying about complaints. At the moment, ActiveSG offers about 70 courts, but booking these is becoming more and more difficult because of the sheer number of players who want to play. The soon-to-be retrofitted Little India Bus Terminal is a step towards solving that problem.
