Pickleball fever has reached Lao Cai, and this time it comes with a celebratory twist. To mark the first anniversary of Lao Cai Ward’s founding, the local Trade Union is teaming up with the Ward People’s Committee to stage a Pickleball tournament on 27–28 June.
The event is more than just a sporting fixture—it’s a nod to community spirit and a warm-up for another milestone, the 97th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union in July. Officials, civil servants, employees, union members, and residents alike are expected to take part, with teams drawn from agencies, schools, businesses, and neighbourhoods across the ward.
The organisers are clear about their goals: create a healthy, inclusive space, encourage physical activity, and strengthen bonds across the community. It’s about more than competition—it’s about promoting wellbeing, building camaraderie, and spreading a positive lifestyle.
The tournament also ties neatly into the national campaign encouraging all citizens to practise physical exercise in the spirit of Uncle Ho. By bringing together diverse groups under one roof—or rather, one court—the organisers hope to enrich the cultural and spiritual life of the ward while showcasing Pickleball as a sport that thrives on accessibility and connection.
