AFP All Systems Go for Landmark Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025
The Asia Federation of Pickleball (AFP) is all set for the Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025, a landmark first-of-its kind event dedicated to fostering the growth of pickleball at the college level. It will be held on 17–20 July 2025 at the Tuyen Son Sport Complex at 26 Phan Dang Luu Street, Hoa Cuong ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang, Vietnam.
The Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025 will be held in collaboration with universities across Asia and will serve as a competitive platform for student-athletes to showcase their skills, engage in high-level competition, and build a thriving university pickleball community.
The tournament, to be co-organised by Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sport, will have the following categories:
- University students: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles
- Faculty and alumni (under 50): Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles
- Faculty and alumni (above 50): Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles
Referee Clinic in the Agenda as Well
Apart from the competition, the Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025 will also hold a four-hour referee workshop on 16 July 2025, also at the Tuyen Son Sports Complex.
The course will provide a structured framework to train individuals in becoming a competent game marshal/referee and will focus on developing a strong understanding of pickleball’s rules and mechanics, while also emphasising fair play, sportsmanship, and continuous improvement. It will be facilitated by John Ng, an AFP Rule Adviser and USA Pickleball-trained referee.
Golden Ticket at Stake at Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025
Aside from prizes and medals, two golden tickets are also at stake at the Asia Pickleball University Championship 2025. The golden tickets will be awarded to the top two teams of the University Team Challenge and will entitle them a slot at the Collegiate World Championships to be held from 31 October to 2 November 2025 in Dallas, Texas in the US.
