Food, Music, Pickleball Intersect as ‘Pickleball By The Bay and Music Festival’ All Set in India

Exciting pickleball action, sumptuous food, and great music await pickleball enthusiasts in India as Pickleball By The Bay and Music Festival is all set to take place on 26–28 September 2025 at the lawns of VGP Golden Beach in Injambakkam, Chennai.
The event, organised by the Rise Up Championship (RUC) Foundation in association with the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), Tamil Nadu Pickleball Association, Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR), and Pickleball World Ranking, will feature one of India’s first PWR 1000 sanctioned tournaments. It will also have a carnival-type atmosphere marked by parties, drinks, and great food all around.
“Launched three months ago, the [Rise Up Championship] Foundation aims to provide a platform for players across sports who have achieved a lot but don’t get the support they need, be it infrastructure or basic facilities or brand association,” said Selvakumar Balu, Founder of RUC Foundation.
So far, 72 players in the 17–52 age category have registered for the tournament, which will begin on Friday. The IPA selected the final list of players, most of whom come from Mumbai, Lucknow, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, based on their DUPR rating.
The matches will be played on a temporary court overlooking a breathtaking seaside view and inside a cavernous air-conditioned indoor area that has two courts, can seat about 800 spectators, and boasts VIP lounge areas.

Pickleball By The Bay and Music Festival: Play All Day, Party All Night
Pickleball action will begin in the morning and last until the evening. By 7:00 p.m., the lawns will be turned into party spaces, with DJs in charge of the music and food stalls for a bevy of food and drinks. DJ Lash and Aishwarya will be on the booth on Day 1, followed by DJ Sparrow, Vinaitha, and Pineapple Express on Day 2, and Sublashini, Masala Coffee, and DJ Veekay on Day 3.
“You know what IPL did for cricket. We will be doing a similar format for other sports,” added Balu. “The idea is to make sure everyone picks up a sport, and if from the spectators attending even if five people take this up, it’s good.”
