CentralWorld Unveils Open-Air Pickleball Playground as Centrepiece of Bangkok Summer Activation

A new pickleball playground has taken over Square A at the heart of CentralWorld, offering city-goers a rare chance to step onto the court without leaving the urban core.

The installation forms a key part of Summer Fest: CentralWorld The Summer Club 2026, a multi-layered activation that blends sport, art, music, and lifestyle into a single, high-energy space running through to 10 May. But while the wider programme casts a broad net, it is the pickleball court that anchors the experience—drawing crowds, sparking interaction, and turning a retail hub into something far more dynamic.

Set up as a fully accessible, standard-sized court, the playground is open to the public at no cost, lowering the barrier to entry and encouraging spontaneous participation. Elevated seating surrounds the court, creating a casual, spectator-friendly atmosphere where passers-by can drop in, watch a rally unfold, or wait their turn to play.

Access is managed through the Central X app, with players able to reserve one session per day. The court operates daily from 10am to 10pm, with dedicated match windows from 4pm to 7pm reserved for more structured play. The result is a steady rhythm throughout the day—relaxed rallies in the morning giving way to more competitive exchanges by late afternoon.

Beyond the court itself, the space has been designed to feel like a summer destination rather than a standalone sports installation. Thai illustrator Prang Vipaluk lends her signature style to the environment, with bold, colourful visuals stretching across the venue and even spilling onto the building’s façade. The entire area doubles as a visual playground, turning CentralWorld into a ready-made backdrop for photos and social content.

The pickleball activation also feeds into a broader calendar of activities, from wellness sessions and workshops to live music and casual social gatherings. For a limited stretch in April, the venue will also spotlight seasonal retail drops and curated dining experiences, further blurring the lines between sport, leisure, and lifestyle.

In effect, this is more than just a court—it’s a reimagined public space, where play, community, and culture intersect right in the middle of Bangkok.
