Maliwat Pickle Yard Opens in PH’s Laguna Province, Welcomes All to Six Premium Courts
Sta. Cruz has a new sporting landmark. On Satuday, 11 July 2026, the Maliwat Pickle Yard officially opened its doors, unveiling six state‑of‑the‑art pickleball courts designed to cater to both first‑timers and seasoned players.
The launch was spearheaded by owner Mayda Maliwat, who spoke passionately about the vision behind the project. “Our advocacy extends from wellness to sports. When our bodies are fit, we become healthier. Pickleball is not just a game—it is a way to foster unity, friendship, and camaraderie among people,” she said.
Maliwat explained that while she herself is not a medical professional, her husband is, and together they share a commitment to promoting public health. Beyond sport, she noted that their mission includes providing medicines to those in need, underscoring their broader dedication to community service.

Maliwat Pickle Yard: A Facility for Everyone
One of the key features of the new centre is accessibility. Maliwat stressed that membership is not required—anyone can play by simply paying the court fee. Open seven days a week, from morning until evening, the venue offers flexibility for those keen to try the sport or make it part of their routine.
“I invite all my fellow Lagunenses to visit Maliwat Pickle Yard here in Sta. Cruz. There’s no need to travel far to enjoy our six premium pickleball courts. Our facility is open to everyone—whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player. Everyone is welcome,” she said.
The grand opening drew a lively crowd, including Sta. Cruz Mayor Benjo Agarao, Laguna Board Member and Philippine Councilors League Laguna Chapter president Arvin Manguiat, and several familiar faces from the entertainment industry. Celebrities Diana Zubiri, Vin Abrenica, and Eric Fructuoso were among those who turned up to show their support for Laguna’s newest sports and wellness destination.
Building a Healthier Community
Maliwat expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support during the launch, encouraging residents to embrace sport as part of daily life. “That support system means everything to me, and I believe it will help me become a better player and an even better person,” she reflected.
With its modern facilities and inclusive ethos, the Maliwat Pickle Yard is poised to become more than just a sporting venue—it is a hub for wellness, camaraderie, and community spirit in Sta. Cruz.
