Doctors Premier Pickleball League: Monsoon Edition Crowns New Champions in Jaipur

Pickleball’s steady rise in India has found yet another stage, this time through the Doctors Premier Pickleball League (DPPL) in Jaipur. The Monsoon Edition brought together medical professionals not only to compete but also to celebrate fitness, camaraderie, and the joy of sport.

The competition produced its share of standout performances. Varun Shekhawat took the honours in the men’s singles (30–45 years), while Ashish Gupta claimed victory in the 45+ category. Purvi, meanwhile, emerged as the star of the women’s singles, later teaming up with Anupama to secure the doubles crown. The men’s doubles title went to Bhupesh and Varun, while youth players Anshul and Darshan impressed with their triumph in the youth doubles bracket. Mixed doubles saw Meenakshi and Anshul combine for a winning partnership.

What made the event distinctive was not just the results but the atmosphere. Doctors, often defined by long hours and high‑pressure responsibilities, found themselves on court competing with intensity yet sharing laughter and encouragement. The organisers, led by Dr Anil Yadav, emphasised that the league is about more than medals—it is about giving medical professionals a chance to recharge, to connect, and to showcase that sport can be a vital part of their lives.

Guests of honour, including Dr Ruby and Dr Nikhil, added weight to the occasion, while Adarsh Sports provided kits as prizes, underscoring the growing support for pickleball in India. The presence of colleagues and families reinforced the sense of community, turning the league into a celebration rather than a mere competition.

The significance of the DPPL lies in its message. Pickleball, with its accessible format and emphasis on quick reflexes and strategy, is proving to be a sport that bridges generations and professions. For doctors, it offers a rare balance—an outlet for fitness and fun alongside the demands of their vocation.

As the Monsoon Edition concluded, the champions walked away with trophies, but the real victory was collective. The league demonstrated how pickleball can foster wellness, unity, and resilience, making it more than just a pastime. In Jaipur, the DPPL showed that sport, when embraced with purpose, can be a powerful antidote to the stresses of modern life.
