Online Casino Brand Buenas PH Taps Pickleball for ‘Balanced Screen Habits’ Campaign
Pickleball’s pull has reached the world of online gaming. Buenas PH, a licensed online casino brand in the Philippines, has launched a creator-led sports and wellness campaign, and its first stop was a pickleball court.
According to a Thursday press release, the initiative features digital creators and influencers and encourages the public to mix screen time with real-life sport and exercise. It kicked off with the Buenas Battle of the Streamers Pickleball Tournament, organised in partnership with global iGaming content provider Pragmatic Play Ltd.
Streamers Swap Screens for Paddles
The event brought together top local gaming and streaming personalities, among them LENG, ForeignGerms, Boss Toyo, and Hypebits. They competed for a prize pool of ₱1 million (about USD $15,768), with the campaign aiming, in the press release’s words, to inspire their audiences “to adopt balanced screen habits.”
For pickleball, the appeal is easy to see. The sport is social, easy to pick up, and highly watchable, which makes it a natural fit for creators who live on camera. A tournament built around streamers also puts the game in front of audiences who may not follow the sport.
“Responsible Gaming Goes Beyond Limits”
Kim Curayag, Buenas PH’s head of marketing, framed the campaign as an extension of the brand’s approach to responsible gaming. “At Buenas PH, responsible gaming goes beyond just setting limits on screen time,” she was cited as saying. “While our Pagcor-regulated safety protocols ensure a secure digital environment, we also want to empower our community to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle offline.”
Buenas PH is an online gaming platform licensed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor). The company said the pickleball tournament marked the first stage of its long-term wellness road map.
More Events on the Calendar
The brand plans to expand its athletic calendar. Next up is a series of Buenas PH Golf Cups on 28 and 30 October, followed by a nationwide fun run in November.
A Note of Context
A tournament sponsored by a gaming brand will draw its share of questions, and readers should weigh the campaign’s framing accordingly. The “balanced screen habits” message comes from the company itself, and yet the press release doesn’t give details on how the campaign will measure any effect on players’ habits, or how the pickleball event fits with the brand’s wider marketing. It’s also not clear who won the tournament, or how many players and teams took part.
Still, it’s another sign of how widely pickleball is being embraced as a platform, from watchmakers to health plans and now online gaming. Whether a pickleball tournament can really change screen habits is another matter, but it’s certainly getting the sport in front of new eyes.
