TheCommune Pickleball Readies Phnom Penh Opening with Cambodia’s First JDC-Designed Courts
Cambodia’s pickleball scene is about to get a very big upgrade. TheCommune Pickleball, a new facility in the heart of Phnom Penh, is opening soon, and it’s bringing a rather famous name along with it.
Johns Design & Consulting (JDC) recently paid a visit to the venue, which will be home to Cambodia’s first JDC-designed pickleball courts. JDC is a world-leading pickleball facility design and consulting firm co-founded by pro stars Ben Johns and Collin Johns, and it is bringing international expertise and professional playing standards to the country.
The JDC team met with the facility’s RPO coaches and future coaches while inspecting the final court finishes, all with one goal: to make sure players get a world-class experience. As the facility puts it, great pickleball starts with great courts
TheCommune will have seven premium courts, and every one of them will carry the Johns Design Certified Court emblem. It’s a visible reminder of the standards behind the facility, and one players will be able to see for themselves on every court.
More Than Just Courts
The venue isn’t only about the playing surface. TheCommune is being designed as a destination for the whole family, combining:
- A restaurant
- Wellness and recovery spaces
- A dedicated children’s play area
- A JOOLA-sponsored pro shop
- On-site medical support
The idea, according to the facility, is for every element to work toward the same goal: a thoughtful, elevated experience for players and the community around them.
Pickleball has been growing quickly across Southeast Asia, and a JDC-certified facility in Phnom Penh suggests Cambodia wants a piece of the action. With courts built to an internationally recognised standard, the venue could give local players a better place to train and play, and may help draw regional events and visitors to the capital.
No opening date has been announced yet, so pickleball fans in Phnom Penh will have to stay tuned.
