Chris Haworth, Kate Fahey Rule Toys “R” Us PPA Finals as Ben Johns, Anna Leigh Waters Extend Mixed Doubles Dominance
The curtains recently closed on the PPA Tour’s Toys “R” Us PPA Finals, and the winners’ circle looked quite familiar. That’s because Chris Haworth and Kate Fahey once again topped the Men’s and Women’s Singles categories, respectively, while Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns continued their mastery in Doubles.
Here are the winners and some relevant stats:
MIXED DOUBLES FINAL: (1) Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns def. (4) Rachel Rohrabacher and Christian Alshon, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5.
- 15th title this season for Waters and Johns.
- Waters and Johns have won six straight titles at San Clemente.
- Waters and Johns are 64-3 in finals together.
- Waters: no errors on Serves, Returns and Thirds.
- Waters and Johns had more Clean Winners, 14-10.
- Waters and Johns had fewer Dinks into the net or wide, 10-3.
- Longest rally: 69 shots.
MEN’S DOUBLES FINAL: (1) Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio def. (3) Andrei Daescu and Federico Staksrud, 11-8, 11-3, 11-0.
- Johns and Tardio’s 16th title this season, the most of any team in Men’s, Women’s or Mixed Doubles.
- Tardio is the only PPA Tour player to win all ten tournaments in 2026 in the same event, in this case, Men’s Doubles.
- Tardio’s 27th overall career title puts him in third place behind Ben and Collin Johns.
- Johns and Tardio had more Clean Winners, 23-10.
- Johns and Tardio had fewer Volleys into the net, 13-8.
- Johns had zero DInks into the net or wide.
- Longest rally: 60 shots.
WOMEN’S DOUBLES FINAL: (1) Anna Bright and Anna Leigh Waters def. (3) Rachel Rohrabacher and Parris Todd, 11-7, 11-6, 11-2.
- Bright and Waters’s 15th title this year and 23rd together.
- Bright and Waters had more Clean Winners, 25-3. (yes, three.)
- Waters’s 15 Clean Winners were third-most in a Women’s Doubles final since the start of 2022.
- Bright and Waters finished Games Two and Three on a 21-3 run.
- Bright and Rohrabacher both had no errors on Serves, Returns and Thirds.
- Longest rally: 37 shots.
MEN’S SINGLES FINAL: (1) Chris Haworth def. (8) John Lucian Goins, 11-2, 11-8.
- Haworth’s seventh title this season.
- Haworth’s eight career Men’s Singles titles puts him tied with Hunter Johnson for third place all-time behind Johns and Staksrud.
- Haworth finished Game Two with seven unanswered points.
- Haworth had more Clean WInners, 15-4.
- Goins’s five Return errors included both Game Points.
- Longest rally: 13 shots.
WOMEN’S SINGLES FINAL: (1) Kate Fahey def. (3) Brooke Buckner, 11-0, 11-9.
- Fahey’s third title this season.
- Fahey’s seven career Women’s Singles titles are third-best all-time behind Waters and Catherine Parenteau.
- Buckner had five Return errors; Fahey had none.
- Fahey had fewer Baseline Drive errors, 14-8.
- Longest rally: 13 shots.
