Malaysia’s Colin Wong Officially Joins JOOLA Pickleball’s Global Roster
JOOLA Pickleball has announced it has signed Malaysian pickleball star Colin Wong to be part of its global roster of sponsored athletes.
“Colin checks every box for us. A great player, committed athlete, strong brand representative, and most importantly, a great human being,” said Tom Nguyen, CEO, APAC, at JOOLA, of Colin Wong.
Colin Wong is seen as one of Malaysia’s rising stars in pickleball, and his selection to the UPA Asia Trailblazers Programme Season 2 proves this unequivocally. The programme, first launched last year, aims to discover and develop elite talent from across Asia, and Wong’s inclusion means he will be able to raise his profile with the help of the largest organization in pickleball today.
By linking up with JOOLA, Wong now joins other Asian talent who have signed sponsorship deals with the global brand. Among these athletes are Hong Kong’s Jack Wong Hong-kit, South Korea’s Kim Eung Gown, Chinese Taipei’s Chao Yi Wang, India’s Arjun Singh, and Japan’s Yuta Funemizu and Wakana Nagahara.
Getting signed by JOOLA is a major milestone for Colin Wong, Jack Wong Hong-kit, and company, as it means they have aligned with arguably the most recognisable and influential brands in pickleball. Getting onboard also means they now have access to high-performance equipment, professional support, and a worldwide platform.
For JOOLA, meanwhile, signing some of Asia’s top pickleball talent further reinforces the brand’s commitment to developing talent in this part of the world and to growing the sport more and more. By signing Wong and other Asian stars, it has positioned itself again as pickleball’s foremost brand in terms of expanding the sport’s reach and supporting its athletes.
