MATTA Set to Open Registration for Malaysia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has announced that registration for the Malaysia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025 will officially open on 1 May 2025. Players will be able to register at the MATTA website HERE.
The Malaysia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025 is a pickleball event like no other in Malaysia and is set to take place in Kuching Sarawak from 7 to 20 October 2025. It will boast a prize pool of RM100,000 (USD $22,688) and will be open to both domestic and international players.
“At MPG, Pickleball meets tourism, and at MATTA, the Association sees its great potential and strength in promoting and developing sports tourism and connecting communities across borders through shared passion and healthy competition. Tournaments like MPG2025 are designed to encourage both inbound and outbound travel, global friendships and cultural exchange through Pickleball,” said Nigel Wong, President at MATTA.
The Malaysia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025 will have multiple categories across different skill levels and age groups. In particular, the tournament will have team events and individual events of men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles.
The Team Event will take place from 7 to 13 October 2025 and will feature 64 teams of 12 players each. The Individual Events, including the Junior Category, will follow from 15 to 20 October 2025, with a target of 320 participants in the Individual Open and 192 in the Junior Category.
Malaysia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025 to Boost Malaysian Tourism
MATTA expects the Malaysia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025 to attract some 1,350 players and more than 2,600 spectators. The association also estimates the event to contribute an estimated MYR31.6 million in tourism revenue, with the tournament hoping to position Malaysia as the leading sports tourism destination in Southeast Asia. This is in line with the Malaysian government’s thrust to hold high-impact sporting events to bolster the nation’s vibrant tourism industry.
Malaysia, at the moment, is already emerging as the region’s pickleball hub, with the number of picklers in the country soaring by the day, along with the number of registered pickleball associations. This meteoric rise is positioning pickleball as the next big thing in sports in Malaysia and is rightfully getting attention from the government and private organisations alike.
So, mark your calendars now. The first day of registration is just a week away!
