Pickleball Superstar Federico Staksrud Tweets PPA Tour Co-Founder with Cool Match Suggestion

Argentina’s Federico Staksrud on Wednesday sent a subtle message to PPA Tour Co-Founder Connor Pardoe on social media platform X about something he’d like to see organised: a pickleball match between the best pickleball players of the US and the top picklers of the rest of the world.
“Let’s do it!!” Staksrud wrote on X while tagging Pardoe’s official account. Staksrud quoted a previous post he himself sent out last year, where he wrote: Team World vs Team USA in pickleball could be a lot of fun (play and watch).”
In that previous post, which Staksrud posted on 3 September 2024, the Argentinian superstar spoke more about the idea, commenting that a Team World vs Team USA match-up “could be a good concept to [hold] once a year” and that he thinks “fans would love to watch something like that.”
“Could literally just copy Laver Cup, do it Friday thru Sunday with a combo of singles mixed and gender,” added Staksrud in another comment to his initial suggestion.

It’s an interesting suggestion to say the least, and it would be great to see how the world’s best stack up against America’s finest. Staksrud, ranked no. 1 in Men’s Singles, no. 3 in Men’s Doubles, and no. 4 in the PPA Tour, should be a shoo-in in any Team World vs Team USA showdown, alongside Australia’s Mitchell Hargreaves and France’s Jay Devilliers.
Standouts from the ongoing PPA Tour Asia such as Hong Kong’s Jack Wong Hong-kit and China’s Yufei Long could also be worthy additions to Team World, who’ll likely have to face superstars like Ben and Collin Johns, Christian Alshon, Anna Bright, and Anna Leigh Waters. Ben, Alshon, and Bright, incidentally, competed against Asia’s best in the recently concluded Panas Malaysia Cup 2025. They had lots of success, as expected, but they also had to sweat it out at times against an inspired field.
So, how are we feeling about a hypothetical Team World vs Team USA pickleball showdown? Drop your comments and let us know your thoughts!
