Dinkers Point Pickleball Club (DPPC) Pays Courtesy Call to Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister

The Dinkers Point Pickleball Club (DPPC) paid a courtesy call on Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam recently as it continues its efforts to promote the sport in the state.

DPPC President Mohd Noh Adzlie led the visit, which is part of the club’s efforts to raise its profile in Sabah and to share with local authorities its vision insofar as developing pickleball in the state. The meeting, according to Adzlie, was more than an official introduction of the club to state officials; rather, it was a show of confidence in sport—pickleball in this case—as a tool for youth development, community building, and healthy lifestyle promotion in Sabah.

Adzlie also emphasised that the club highly values the support it is receiving from state authorities and reiterated its commitment to representing Sabah in pickleball tournaments and to growing the sport in the state.

For his part, Minister Gunsalam expressed his appreciation of the club’s efforts while also highlighting DPPC’s role in cultivating Sabah’s young pickleball talent. To this point, he enjoined the state’s pickleball players to make the most of the opportunities given to them and to try to compete in national-level events and, ultimately, in international competitions.

Additionally, Minister Gunsalam emphasised that the state is fully supporting the club’s participation in the Leapmotor APP Kuala Lumpur Open 2026, taking place in Kuala Lumpur this week.

Finally, the minister and DPPC discussed plans for growing pickleball further in Sabah, focusing on training programmes, talent discovery and development, and community outreach. To this end, DPPC affirmed its commitment to expanding pickleball participation across schools and local communities and reiterated its dedication to developing Sabah’s pickleball scene. Minister Gunsalam, meanwhile, expressed his full support for these plans and vowed to help as well.
