Brotherhood, Charity, and Competition: Cebu Pickleball Open 2026 Concludes With a Bang

The Cebu Pickleball Open Tournament 2026, highlighted by the Blazing Torch and True Edge Cup, proved to be a resounding success. Organised by the Antorcha De La Libertad Lodge No. 2 and Espada De Rectitud Lodge No. 3 of The Sovereign Grand Lodge of Visayas and Mindanao–Gran Logia Soberana del Archipielago Filipino (TSGLVM–GLSdAF), the event brought together players, supporters, and advocates of the sport in a spirited one-day competition.

Hermano Allan Delantar of TSGLVM explained that the tournament achieved its threefold mission: to strengthen camaraderie and brotherhood through sportsmanship, to raise funds for charitable and humanitarian causes, and to promote pickleball as a growing sport in Cebu and its surrounding communities. He added that part of the proceeds will be channelled to a charitable organisation or humanitarian initiative chosen by the organisers and approved by TSGLVM–GLSdAF.

The competition drew strong support from figures such as Howard Lazarte of Pickle Rank, Mhark Anthony Lao, Clint Libarnes, Dave Baldoza of ADB Var Rental, and Bola Pickleball PH. Their backing ensured the smooth staging of the tournament and underscored the collaborative spirit behind the event.

On court, Bombie Ledesma and Karlo Ledesma emerged as men’s doubles open champions after defeating Alfredo Arradaza III and Eliezer Yac. In the women’s doubles open, Sheina Martinez and Selena Monique Olo claimed the crown by overcoming Karyll Salas and Jeanette Eduave. Salas, however, found redemption in the mixed doubles, partnering with Dwayne Constantine Balibalos to secure victory against Kaye Layosa and Janssen Bryle Ricana.

The beginners’ category also delivered its share of drama. Marshy Vidal and Justine Cañete edged Louise Marvi Pinos and Ken Harvey Pinos to win the mixed doubles. Kent Homer Gongob and John Philip Pogoy topped the men’s doubles after outlasting Ken Harvey Pinos and Caesar Ian Ortega. In the women’s doubles, Niña Sequino and Lyka Campugan reigned supreme, defeating Karissa Lopez and Rizalda Maunes.

The Cebu Pickleball Open 2026 was more than a tournament. It was a celebration of sport, community, and shared purpose. With its blend of competition, charity, and fellowship, the event set a strong example of how pickleball can continue to grow in Cebu while making a meaningful impact beyond the court.
