AIPA Athletes Win Four Medals in Korea as Legal Battle Continues

Not even a legal battle can stop the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) from delivering honour to India, which is fast becoming among the major hubs of pickleball in Asia.
The AIPA, which is in a legal dispute with the Indian Pickleball Association and India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, delivered pickleball glory to India recently as three of its picklers— Kuldip Mahajan, Sonu Kumar Vishwakarma, Vrushali Thakare—won four medals at the 2025 World Pickleball Championship Korea held from the 5th to the 8th of June 2025 at the Seogwipo Tennis Center, Jeju-do. The Tier 3 tournament was organised by Pickleball Global and brought together over 230 world-class players from across Asia, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, and Singapor.
Mahajan shone brightest for India as he won gold in the Men’s Doubles 19+ category with Hong Kong’s Ryan Iam and in the Mixed Doubles 19+ category with Thakare. Vishwakarma, meanwhile, bagged silver in the Men’s Singles 19+, while Thakare added a silver to her tally in the Women’s Doubles 19+ category alongside Indonesia’s Angie Bong.
“It is truly heartening to witness our athletes rise to the occasion and deliver such world-class performances on an international stage. These victories are not just medals-they are milestones in India’s growing stature in the global pickleball community. We are proud of our champions who continue to put Indian pickleball on the world map with grit, grace, and excellence.”
– Arvind Prabhoo, President of AIPA.
With this four-medal haul at WPC Korea, the AIPA underscored yet again its primordial standing as India’s longest-running pickleball organisation. It also highlighted India’s continuing dominance and growing talent pool in the world of pickleball.
