Baseline Adopts DUPR as Exclusive Rating System in Move to Unify Asian Pickleball Standard
Asia’s pickleball community is growing fast. Its rating infrastructure is now catching up.
Baseline, one of the region’s leading tournament and event platforms, has announced a transition to DUPR as its exclusive rating system. This announcement means all matches played through the platform will feed directly into a single, unified DUPR rating. The move eliminates the parallel systems that have complicated player tracking and tournament seeding across Asia’s increasingly active competitive calendar.
The logic is straightforward—and the problem it solves is real. As more players enter the sport and more tournaments get organised across Asia, multiple rating systems create confusion for players moving between clubs, leagues, and events, and headaches for tournament directors trying to seed draws accurately. A single, universally recognised standard addresses both of those problems simultaneously.
Why DUPR and Baseline Partnership Is Critical
DUPR chief executive officer Tito Machado did not mince words about why the partnership matters.
“Multiple rating systems cause division and confusion for players and tournament organisers. We are delighted to be on the same page as Baseline to move things forward together on a unified front to exclusively use the DUPR rating system,” Machado said.
To support the transition, DUPR is rolling out new tools specifically designed for Baseline’s tournament directors—streamlined match submission processes, coach certification pathways to help bring newly rated players into the system quickly, and ongoing technical support built around the specific realities of the Asian pickleball market. The infrastructure behind the partnership is designed to make the shift as smooth as possible for organisers who are already managing busy competitive calendars.
The Baseline announcement is framed as the first step in a broader DUPR push across Asia, where the rating platform is working with local tournament and event partners to build a single trusted standard across the region. The Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, and Singapore have all seen significant pickleball growth in recent years, and the absence of a unified rating system has been one of the practical frictions that comes with growth happening faster than standardisation.
DUPR Used Globally Already
DUPR already powers ratings across more than 190 countries and serves as the official rating system for USA Pickleball, the Global Pickleball Federation, the Professional Pickleball Association, and Major League Pickleball, among others. Its adoption by Baseline brings that same global standard to Asia’s grassroots and competitive tournament ecosystem.
One rating. One standard. One less reason for confusion.
