Christopher Haworth Goes Perfect at Greater Zion Cup, Completes Meteoric Rise to World No. 1
Christopher Haworth didn’t just win a title in the Greater Zion Cup at Black Desert Resort—he made a statement.
In a stacked Men’s Pro Singles draw filled with specialists and upset threats, Haworth tore through the field without dropping a single game, completing one of the most dominant runs on tour this season.
His path to the crown was anything but easy. Haworth dispatched a gauntlet of dangerous opponents—Juan Manuel Mercado, Georgi Rangelov, Spencer Crum, Riley Frazier, and Noah Goins—before sealing the title with a clinical victory over Federico Staksrud in the final. Each match followed the same script: controlled aggression, relentless pace, and zero let-up.
The reward? A massive 1,500-point haul—and something even bigger.
From Newcomer to No. 1 in Nine Months
With the victory, Haworth is set to climb to World No. 1 in Men’s Singles, overtaking Hunter Johnson, whose early exit in the Round of 32—courtesy of JW Johnson—opened the door.
The speed of Haworth’s ascent is what makes this story remarkable. He only signed with the PPA Tour in late July 2025, entering the circuit with virtually no ranking points after competing exclusively on the APP Tour. That meant a long, grinding climb—starting in Round of 64 matches against players he now meets in semifinals and finals.
Nine months later, he sits at the top.
A Shift in the Singles Landscape—with Haworth at the Top
Haworth’s rise signals more than just a new name at No. 1—it hints at a changing order in men’s singles. His ability to dominate seasoned contenders without dropping a game speaks to a level of consistency and physicality that’s becoming the new benchmark on tour.
For now, though, the focus remains on what he’s just accomplished: a flawless tournament, a statement victory, and a meteoric rise that has reshaped the rankings in record time.
