Hangzhou Open 2025: Alix Truong Wins Two Gold Medals, Federico Staksrud Settles for Mixed Doubles Title

Alix Truong will leave China with two gold medals as one of the stars of the Hangzhou Open 2025. Meanwhile, world no. 2 Federico Staksrud settled for one gold and one silver after crashing out of Men’s Singles action.

Gold for Alix Truong in Women’s Doubles

Vietnam’s Alix Truong was golden twice over in Hangzhou, winning gold in the Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles with Zoey Wang and Federico Staksrud, respectively.

Truong/Wang capped off a rousing campaign in Women’s Doubles with a hard-fought 2-0 (11-8, 11-6) victory over the American pair of Sarah Burr and Jamie Haas. Truong and Wang lost just one set—in the semis against the twosome of Yufei Long and Sahra Dennehy—on their way to a golden finish. Dennehy and Long rounded out the podium, netting bronze after beating Aiko Yoshitomi and Kara Wheatley.

Gold for Alix Truong in Mixed Doubles

Truong made it two gold medals in China with another smashing victory in the gold-medal match in Mixed Doubles with partner Federico Staksrud, who is currently ranked no. 2 in the world in Men’s Singles. Staksrud, who crashed out in Men’s Singles and fell in the semis of Men’s Doubles, salvaged an otherwise underwhelming stint in Hangzhou by helping Truong defeat the pair of Kim Eunggwon and Nok Yiu Tang, 2-0 (11-9, 11-1).

Truong/Staksrud beat the high-powered pair of Connor Garnett, ranked no. 3 in the PPA Tour, and Ting Chie Wei to book their seats in the gold-medal match. Zoey Wang and Armaan Bhatia then took bronze with a 2-0 (11-3, 11-9) victory over Garnett/Wei.

Hien Truong/Quan Do Top Men’s Doubles

Hien Truong, one-half of the Truong siblings, rounded out the winners’ circle with Quan Do as the two teamed up to win gold in the Men’s Doubles, beating the highly touted twosome of Staksrud and Armaan Bhatia, 2-1 (10-12, 11-6, 11-5). The pair of Thomas Yu and Len Yang earned a podium finish as well after topping Shama Shimabukuro and Prycen Haas, 2-0 (11-1, 11-3).
