Pickleball Courts Soon to Rise in Taman Kapayan in Malaysia as Local Officials Go All-In on Sports
Taman Kapayan in Sabah, Malaysia, is getting much-needed sporting venues soon.
In fact, construction on new pickleball and volleyball courts has begun in the residential area in Kota Kinabalu, which means locals will soon have facilities to play two popular sports. This development is a significant win for the community, especially the youth, who have long been hoping for such courts.
According to Nabalu News, site preparation for the new courts is currently under way, and excavation works are already in progress.
In addition, former Kapayan State Assemblyman (ADUN) Datuk Jannie Lasimbang visited the site and checked on its progress. She noted that the project was proposed last year, and full implementation is expected this year. The former Assemblyman also thanked former Minister of Youth and Sports YB Hannah Yeoh for allocating funding for the project.
For years, the youth of Taman Kapayan have been hoping for a dedicated volleyball court, as the sport has drawn immense interest from local youngsters. Meanwhile, interest in pickleball is also picking up in the area, prompting officials to include pickleball courts in the facility. This soon-to-rise sporting venue will provide the Taman Kapayan community with a proper and safe venue for organised sporting activities.
Along with the construction of the new courts, local officials have also repaired existing basketball courts in an all-out effort to give the community safe play spaces.
