The Sarawak Chinese Association (SCA) has announced it is hosting the TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 in collaboration with 22 ethnic associations. The tournament will be held from 28 to 29 March 2026 at the Paragon Pickleball Sports Centre in Sarawak.
The TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 will be the curtain-raiser to the Taste of Borneo Cultural Carnival (TOBC) 4.0, with the goal of fusing sports with cultural exchange.
“It is more than just a competition; it is a professionally organised, high-impact initiative designed to empower youth, strengthen unity in diversity, and reinforce Sarawak’s position as a premier destination for sports, youth development, and cultural tourism,” SCA President Harry Lee told Borneo Post Online.
The TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 is specifically aimed at encouraging the youth to participate in high-level sports. As such, the SCA is encouraging students aged between 10 and 18 to join the competition and experience firsthand what it is like to participate in a highly organised, high-level tournament.
Students who compete in the TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 will earn points for their Assessment of Physical, Sports, and Co-curricular Activities (PAJSK) as the tournament is authorised by the Miri District Education Office. These earned points will then contribute to the students’ School-Based Assessment (PBS).
According to Lee, the TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 forms part of the SCA’s vision of promoting social cohesion and multicultural friendship in cognisance of Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030. It is also a way to foster interaction among Sarawak’s diverse communities and participants from neighbouring regions, notably Sabah, Brunei, and Indonesia. It also aims to promote healthy lifestyles, enhance community well-being, and boost tourism across Borneo.
The TOBC Borneo Pickleball Championship 2026 is officially authorised by the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurial Development; the Malaysia Pickleball Association; Sarawak Pickleball Association; and Miri Pickleball Association.
