The Punjab Pickleball Association, with help from the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), is going to great lengths to grow pickleball in the state of Punjab in India. One thing the former is specifically doing is taking the world’s fastest-rising sport into schools in the state to entice the next generation of Indian pickleball players.
In fact, over the past few months, the Punjab Pickleball Association conducted demonstration sessions to over 50 schools, introducing thousands of students in the state to this beautiful sport. What’s more, the association, again with the help of AIPA, have already helped at least five schools build their own dedicated pickleball courts. Both associations have also guaranteed partner schools that they will be assisting in developing the schools’ pickleball infrastructure to ensure long-term access to the sport.
“Our mission is simple: to take pickleball to every school in Punjab. The excitement among students has been inspiring, and it strengthens our resolve to continue this movement,” said Virameet Singh, State Secretary at the Punjab Pickleball Association. “With the guidance and support of the All India Pickleball Association, we are not just introducing a sport, we are building sustainable platforms for children to grow, train, and compete.”
AIPA President Arvin Prabhoo, who was recently named President of the Asia Federation of Pickleball as well, added: “The energy, commitment, and vision shown here reflect the future of Indian pickleball. The All India Pickleball Association is proud to support its affiliated state unit, the Punjab Pickleball Association, in creating opportunities, providing infrastructure, and nurturing young players who will one day represent India in global platforms.
Indeed, the Punjab Pickleball Association is building a pickleball movement, and with the youth as the cornerstone, it won’t be a surprise if it grows bigger and better by the day.
That’s certainly great news for pickleball.
