The first ever Skechers Pickleball First Philippine Pickleball Amateur Nationals is all set, with the Philippine Pickleball Federation (PPF) taking point.

This tournament is latest evidence of pickleball’s exponential growth in the Philippines, where the sport is no longer just a casual pastime. It is steadily evolving into a structured, competitive sport, with new players getting into the action by the week. And the PPF is leading that transformation.

Early this year, in fact, the PPF took a major step forward by launching a national player registry and official rankings system. With these in place, the federation is not only organising the sport but also establishing clear rules, pathways, and standards for tournaments, coaching, and officiating.

“In just a few years, growth has been huge. Now, we’re building systems for fairness, credibility, and long-term development,” said PPF president Shery Anne Cu.

The rapid rise of pickleball has also been supported by key partners. Brands like Skechers recognised the sport’s potential early, backing grassroots events, developing pickleball-specific footwear, and supporting major competitions such as the first Philippine Pickleball National Championship.

That growing ecosystem is beginning to produce recognizable names within the sport. Players like Sarah Jane Lim-Narvasa and Leander Lazaro are now competing under official recognition, helping elevate the level of play while giving the sport identifiable figures to rally behind.

The next key milestone is already on the horizon. The Skechers Pickleball First Philippine Pickleball Amateur Nationals is set to take place on 28–30 March 2026 at Tela Park in Las Piñas City. More than just another tournament, the event represents a step toward a unified competitive structure, where results directly contribute to national rankings and bring together players from across the country under a consistent and fair system.
