Global pickleball brand Selkirk Sport has partnered with technology monolith Tesla to create the Tesla Plaid Paddle, a new, ultra-modern paddle line that is sure to revolutionise paddle-making and give players around the world another choice.
The idea of partnering with Tesla was planted way back in March 2024, when Selkirk executives visited the Tesla Fremont Factory in California for a tour. There, they witnessed firsthand Tesla’s visionary approach to design and engineering in the automotive space, and it ultimately sparked a question: how could this advanced approach apply to pickleball?
When Tech Meets Performance: The Tesla Plaid Paddle
A year and change later, the two companies have partnered up, and we now have the answer: the Tesla Plaid Paddle. The idea behind this advanced paddle began with Selkirk and Tesla challenging what’s possible. Selkirk and Tesla co-created the Tesla Plaid Paddle from the ground up through relentless testing and ideation, with every angle, every layer, and every millisecond of swing speed engineered to give players a distinct edge on the court.
A notable feature of the Tesla Plaid Paddle is its overall shape, which Selkirk and Tesla determined after strenuous aerodynamics testing from the latter. The Tesla Plaid Paddle’s elongated form, paired with the aerodynamic open throat and sharp, edgeless style, reduces drag while increasing reach.
