Visiting Pros Shine at the Kinto APP Asia Qualifier in Japan
The APP Tour brought its 2026 international calendar to Utsunomiya City in Tochigi Prefecture, staging the Kinto APP Asia Qualifier in partnership with Pickleball Japan. Over three days, the event showcased Singles on Friday, Gender Doubles on Saturday, and Mixed Doubles on Sunday—a nod to the traditional tournament format.
Men’s Pro Singles
Top seeds Jake Bower and Mauro Garcia lived up to expectations, cruising through a draw largely filled with Japan‑based talent. In the final, 18‑year‑old Garcia from Spain outplayed the 23‑year‑old Floridian Bower in straight games, securing gold and underlining his rapid rise on the Tour.
Women’s Pro Singles
Bobbi Oshiro and Brooke Revuelta, both US‑based professionals, reached the semi‑finals as predicted. Oshiro dispatched Australia’s Nicola Schoeman, while Taiwan’s Yu‑Chieh Hsieh stunned Revuelta with a commanding 9‑3 scoreline. The final saw Oshiro drop the opening game but rally to overcome Hsieh, adding another gold to her growing collection.
Mixed Pro Doubles
Bobbi Oshiro doubled her medal haul by teaming with Keven Wong to win the Mixed Doubles title. They defeated Richmond‑based duo David Bieger and Lauralei Singsank in the final, giving Singsank her first professional medal.
Men’s Pro Doubles
Despite a strong showing from local players, the semi‑finals featured only travelling pros. Keven Wong and Daniel Moore upset top seeds Will Wimbish and Roman Estareja, while Jake Bower and David Bieger overcame Mauro Garcia and Santhosh Narayanan. Wong and Moore then controlled the final, winning comfortably to claim gold.
Women’s Pro Doubles
Brooke Revuelta, one of the APP Next programme’s most decorated players, partnered with Nicola Schoeman to topple top seed Bobbi Oshiro and Fukunaga Hinano. Their victory capped a strong weekend for Revuelta, who left Japan with medals in both Singles and Doubles.
Looking Ahead
With medals awarded and the tracker updated, attention now shifts to Malaysia. The next stop on the APP International Tour is the Leapmotor APP Penang Open, scheduled in two weeks’ time.
