APP Sacramento Open 2026: Sofia Sewing Wins Historic Triple Crown in Sac-Town

Pickleball history was written in Sacramento over the weekend as Sofia Sewing became only the sixth woman ever to claim a Triple Crown on the Association of Pickleball Players (APP) Tour. The South Florida star dazzled across four days of competition, taking home three gold medals and cementing her place among the sport’s elite.

Her achievement was just the 15th Triple Crown in APP history, and Sewing is now the 11th player overall to accomplish the feat. It is also her second trifecta this season after netting a Triple Crown at the Leapmotor APP Kuala Lumpur Open 2026 back in February.

“I’m over the moon,” she said after clinching the final match. “I couldn’t be happier, honestly. I feel like I could cry. I’m at a loss for words.”

Sofia Sewing Was Superb in Singles

The journey began in Women’s Singles, where Sewing faced Australia’s Seone Mendez. After splitting the first two games, Sewing found herself down 10‑8 in the decider. She dug deep, rallied four straight points, and secured her first gold with a 12‑10 win.

Sofia Sewing, Megan Fudge Do Just Enough in Women’s Doubles

Her second medal came in Women’s Doubles alongside Megan Fudge. The pair battled Vivian Glozman and Roos Van Reek in a thrilling three‑game contest. Sewing and Fudge dominated the opener, stumbled in the second, but regained control in the third to seal victory 11‑6. “We really have a lot of belief and trust in each other,” Sewing said. “We enjoy the fight, and it shows when we’re out there together.”

Sofia Sewing, Casey Diamond Shine in Mixed Doubles

The final step was Mixed Doubles. Partnering with Casey Diamond, Sewing faced Fudge again—this time with Richard Livornese, Jr. Across two tight games, Sewing and Diamond held firm, winning 11‑8, 11‑7 to complete the Triple Crown. “Big congrats to Casey, because I know it was a lot of pressure,” Sewing said. “I couldn’t be more proud of us as a team.”

For Diamond, the triumph was equally sweet. “We were the 36‑seeds a year ago. This was the first tournament we were the one‑seeds and it finished with a Triple Crown. It means everything, and I’m so incredibly proud of Sofia.”

Three golds, one weekend, and a place in pickleball history. Sofia Sewing’s Triple Crown at the APP Sacramento Open was not just a personal milestone—it was a reminder of how rare, demanding, and unforgettable such a feat truly is.
