Leapmotor Singapore Open 2026: Yufei Long on Track for Twin Gold, Jack Wong Hong-kit Hones In on Singles Gold
Yufei Long and Jack Wong Hong-kit are stamping their class in the Leapmotor Singapore Open 2026.
While Long won’t have a chance at a Triple Crown, she is nonetheless heading into Championship Sunday with a chance at two titles after a superb Saturday. She reached the Women’s Singles final with an 11-4, 11-6 victory over Kei Sawaki. She and partner Kara Wheatley booked a seat in the gold medal match in Women’s Doubles with a 12-10, 11-5 victory.
Incidentally, Long will be facing compatriot Anni Xie in the Women’s Singles final, after the latter beat another Chinese player, Lingwei Kong, 3-11, 11-4, 11-4. Long and Kong will then meet in the Women’s Doubles final after Kong and partner Jamie Haas beat the duo of Naimi Mehta and Mayu Ito.
Long’s Triple Crown bid, however, came to a screeching halt after she and Lucas Pascoe lost to the pair of Jaeda Minnifield and Lam Pham, 11-9, 0-11, 8-11. The latter pair will dispute the Mixed Doubles crown against the duo of Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall and Robert Stirling.
Jack Wong Hong-kit on Track for Third Men’s Singles Gold
Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Jack Wong Hong-kit, the winner of the last two PPA Tour Asia finals, will be going for a third one against sixth-seeded Adam Harvey. Hong-kit sealed another championship appearance with a dominant 11-1, 11-2 triumph over Macau’s Marco Leung. Harvey, on the other hand, barged into the final with a 6-11, 11-2, 11-9 upset of top seed Hien Truong of Vietnam.
The Hong Kong ace, however, won’t be playing in any other final as his bid for multiple medals was squashed. He and usual partner Eunggwon Kim lost to the pair of Truong and Kenta Miyoshi, 11-9, 11-8. Then, Hong-kit and Wheatley fell to Wang-Beckvall and Stirling, 11-3, 5-11, 6-11.
