Asia Tournament Updates

Paramount Cup Returns Bigger, Bolder, and With a Passport Stamp

Selangor’s pickleball community barely had time to exhale after last year’s inaugural Paramount Cup before Paramount Property confirmed it was bringing the tournament back—this time on a grander scale. The 2026 edition promises more than 900 players, a prize pool north of RM110,000, and, crucially, a new status as an APP Asia Kuala Lumpur Qualifier Series stop. That recognition means Malaysian players now have a direct pathway into international competition, rather than simply hosting visiting talent and hoping to match them point for point.

It’s a significant leap. Last year’s event drew around 700 competitors, including players from India, Australia, the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, and South Korea. This year, the dynamic shifts: local athletes can use Paramount Cup as a springboard to test themselves abroad, not just as a showcase at home.

Property Meets Pickleball

The tournament runs from 22 to 25 October 2026 at PLAYA Racquet Club @ PARC Subang—the same venue that debuted alongside last year’s edition as Malaysia’s first purpose-built pickleball hub. Paramount Property has made sport a genuine extension of its development philosophy, not a marketing gimmick.

Beh Chun Chong, Deputy Group CEO of Paramount Corporation Berhad, underscored that point, linking the company’s identity as The People’s Developer to its commitment to creating spaces where communities can thrive, stay active, and connect.

“At Paramount Property, our promise of being The People’s Developer shapes everything we do. It inspires us to create places where people can live well, stay active and build meaningful connections.”

This year’s edition also invests in the future of the sport, introducing eight junior categories from U10 through U16. It’s a clear nod to nurturing the next generation of players who will eventually fill the Open brackets.

Community impact is woven in too. RM5 from every registration goes directly to Shelter Home for Children, with Paramount Property matching the contribution ringgit for ringgit. Each sign-up becomes more than a sporting entry—it’s a small act of goodwill.

Momentum and Meaning

Malaysian pickleball has been gathering pace, and last year’s tournament proved there’s appetite for high-level competition. International names such as India’s Vanshik Kapadia and Tejas Mahajan, Taiwan’s Hsieh Yu-Chieh, and Indonesia’s Gusti Ngurah Putra Haribawa all left with medals, while local players like Syabil Shaharudin, Khoo Er Yang, Danny Tan, and Connie Chan reached finals against that calibre of opposition.

With qualifier status now attached, the question isn’t whether Malaysians can compete—they already have. It’s how many will use Paramount Cup as the first step towards competing on foreign courts.

This year, the Paramount Cup isn’t just bigger. It’s bolder, more purposeful, and built with community at its core. And for Malaysian pickleball, it’s a tournament that finally comes with a passport stamp.
